05-Day Training Programme on National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF) for Krishi Sakhis held at KVK Anantnag
ANANTNAG, MARCH 26: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Anantnag, SKUAST-Kashmir, successfully concluded a five-day training programme under the National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF), exclusively designed for Krishi Sakhis of district Anantnag.
The initiative aimed to equip these grassroots women agricultural workers with the knowledge and skills required to promote sustainable and eco-friendly farming practices in their communities.
The valedictory function was graced by eminent officials and experts from the agricultural sector.
In his keynote address, Dr. Ishtiyaq A. Khan, Scientist and Head, KVK-Anantnag, provided an insightful overview of the programme, emphasizing the significance of the NMNF initiative.
He underscored the pivotal role of KVK-Anantnag in promoting natural farming, noting that the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) selected it in 2022-23 as one of the leading KVKs in the country for spearheading natural farming through a dedicated project.
Dr. Khan also shared the remarkable achievements of KVK-Anantnag in advancing sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
Chief Agriculture Officer Anantnag, Aijaz Ahmad Dar, addressing the gathering lauded the efforts of Krishi Sakhis in taking the mission of natural farming directly to the farming community.
He emphasized the importance of natural farming in ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability and acknowledged the government’s commitment to environmentally sustainable agriculture.
The event witnessed the participation of District co-ordinator JKNRLM, senior officials from the Department of Agriculture, including SDAO Dooru, and AEOs from various Agriculture Zones of District Anantnag.
The training material specifically designed for the participants and certificate of participation were distributed among the participating Krishi Sakhis.
