07 Days training program on ‘Scientific Beekeeping’ concludes

SRINAGAR, MARCH 10: The seven day training program on ‘Scientific Beekeeping’ organised by Agriculture production and farmers welfare department in collaboration with National Bee Board under National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) concluded today at Agriculture complex Lal Mandi Srinagar.


The seven days training program that commenced from 3rd March attracted beekeepers, farmers, stakeholders, students, unemployed youth and FPO members.
The programme was inaugurated by Director Agriculture Kashmir (Mission Director NBHM) Mohammad Ilyas Khateeb.


Today while addressing the concluding ceremony, Director Agriculture said that the program was aimed to promote latest trends and technologies in the field of apiculture, schemes in Agriculture for beekeepers, besides financial assistance schemes for farmers.


He highlighted the significance of beekeeping in enhancing the farm productivity and sustenance of rural livelihoods. He described Beekeeping as a promising agri- allied activity. He said that under HADP special projects/ programs are being implemented by the department for the development of the concerned sector.
Participants were informed about financial incentives, including 80% subsidy on beekeeping units, aimed at bolstering the sector in the region.


The training program witnessed sessions on overview of beekeeping in Kashmir, value addition of hive products, challenges in beekeeping, Modern scientific beekeeping, schemes in agriculture for beekeepers, technical discussion and valedictory cum distribution of certificates among the participants.


Joint director agriculture (extension) Sartaj Ahmad Shah; Deputy Director Agriculture central Waheed-U- Rehmaan; Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar, Apiculture Development Officer Srinagar also participated in the concluding ceremony.
