“1 Killed, 2 arrested in Ayodhya encounter”: UP Police
Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh) [India], September 22 (ANI): One person was killed and two others arrested after UP Police STF encountered criminals responsible for the beating of a Policewoman on a train.
Prashant Kumar, Special DG, Law and Order has said that three persons involved in the case have criminal history.
“There was a dangerous attack on a woman in Saryu Express on August 30. Teams were also formed; the government took this incident very seriously. The investigation was transferred to STF. But our railway team and local team were working on this too. Prayagraj High Court had also taken suo motu cognizance of this. STF had announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for anyone providing information in this regard” he said.
“Last night, on the basis of some information, photographs of some doubtful people were obtained. After identification, on the basis of technical input, the teams raided the Inayatnagar area where two persons were arrested and caught in injured condition, who revealed their names as Anees Khan and Vichambar Dubey” the Special DG informed.
“The entire area was cordoned off and around 5 in the morning, in an encounter with the police, Anees got injured and taken to hospital where during the treatment he died,” Prashant Kumar added.
Prashant Kumar further said that these people have criminal histories and various cases were registered on them.
“These three people also have criminal history, there are 6 cases against Anees, 12 cases against Azad, and 3 cases against Vishambar registered. These people committed the crime even in the train, where they saw a woman head constable in the train alone and attacked her during which she got injured,” Prashant Kumar added.
The special DG, Law and Order also noted that the successful operation was carried out by various teams of Uttar Pradesh and now the future process of punishing them will be done.
The woman constable was discovered unconscious inside a train compartment of the Saryu Express on August 30 at Ayodhya station. Her face was attacked with a sharp weapon and she had sustained two fractures to her skull.
