11 held for peddling ganja in Andhra Pradesh’s NTR District
NTR District (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 26 (ANI): As part of a 100-day action plan to make Andhra Pradesh a drug-free state, the NTR district police have arrested 11 individuals involved in ganja-related cases and seized 23.5 kg of ganja along with stolen property worth Rs2.60 lakh.
According to the police, the accused are addicted to ganja and sell it to youths in various parts of Vijayawada to earn quick money. Five of them have prior arrests for ganja-related offences.
The police have recovered two stolen motorcycles and clothing from the accused.
Under the supervision of the City Task Force and Law and Order Police, the “Anti-Narcotic Cell” and Law & Order teams have been gathering information and conducting surveillance on individuals involved in the transportation, sale, purchase, and supply of ganja, said the police.
Since its inception, the “Anti-Narcotic Cell” has registered 35 cases, arrested 120 individuals, and seized approximately 239 kg of ganja, according to the police.
