13 BN NDRF conducts Mock Exercise, School Safety Programs in Doda, Thathri

DODA, OCTOBER 23: The 13P team of NDRF 13 BN, led by Assistant Commandant Javed Iqbal, conducted a Tabletop Exercise (TTEx) on earthquake and landslide scenario at the DC Office Conference Hall, Doda.


The exercise, held from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, was chaired by Sudershan Kumar, ADC. The exercise focused on collapsed structures during disaster eventualities and involved various stakeholders. Key points discussed included the introduction of NDRF, sequence of activities during disaster response, the importance of mock exercises, the role of stakeholders, and disaster preparedness and management plans.


The TTEx saw the participation of 89 individuals from various departments, including Revenue, Food & Supply, PWD, Army, Police, SDRF, Civil Administration, NGOs, and medical and fire services. The exercise highlighted the importance of collaboration among these departments during disaster response to ensure effective management and minimizing damage during natural calamities.


Earlier the other day, the School Safety Program was held by the 13P NDRF team at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School Thathri. The event, led by Inspector Munshi Ram Sharma, ran from 10:50 AM to 12:40 PM, focusing on training teaching staff and 430 students on essential disaster management techniques. Topics covered included first aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), evacuation drills, fire safety, and the use of fire extinguishers. The program aimed to equip the school community with the necessary skills to respond to emergencies like earthquakes, floods, fires, and landslides.


The training event was well-received, with Principal B.D. Sharma and 32 teachers actively participated, alongside two SDRF personnel. The total number of beneficiaries from the program reached 464, reinforcing the school’s disaster preparedness and safety measures.
