1300 Year Old Bheem ka Matka in Baramulla Never Goes Dry
Former DC Srinagar and current Administrative Secretary of Tribal Affairs Department and Chief Executive Officer, J&K Mission Youth, Mission Director, Skill Development Mission, J&K, Shahid Choudhary shared photos of an earthen pot known as the Bhim Matka believed to be more than 1300 years old which never goes dry.
Believed to have origins in Hindu mythology, stories of the Bheem ka Matka, found nearly 120 years ago near Bonyar in Baramulla, are regaled by locals. Popular legend has it that Bheema used to fill water from the Vitasta river (Jhelum river) for Draupadi and her brothers every day.
