14 dead cattle found in Chhattisgarh’s Baloda Bazaar; 4 detained
Baloda Bazaar (Chhattisgarh) [India], August 2 (ANI): As many as 14 dead cattle, including 10 calves, were found inside a house in Chhattisgarh Baloda Bazaar on Friday, officials said.
According to a statement issued by the district administration, the incident took place in village Marda, under the Lavan police station in the district.
After learning about the deaths and following the instructions of District Collector Deepak Soni, a joint team of police and local administration reached the village to probe the matter.
Following an input that a foul smell is coming out of a house due to the deaths of cattle, the team was dispatched to the village, the statement added.
According to the administration, the team found 14 cattle dead inside a house and it seems like the animals might have died 2-3 days ago. During investigation, villagers revealed that after identifying stray animals, they were being kept at the house to protect crops from them. A private committee at the village-level takes care of these stray animals.
Based on the investigation findings, an offence in this connection has been registered and four persons identified as Sushil Kumar Sahu (50), Teras Ram Sahu (60), Laxmi Prasad Yadav (54) and Rakesh Kumar Jangde (49) were detained.
Further investigation into the case is underway, according to the administration.
