15 day certificate course on “Integrated Nutrient Management” concludes at KVK Jammu

JAMMU, June 15: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jammu working under the administrative control of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Jammu, completed a 15 day certificate course on “Integrated Nutrient Management (INM)” for Input dealers.

Prof. S. K. Gupta, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, was the chief guest at the Valedictory event.

As many as Sixty rural youth, progressive farmers, members of co-operative societies and FPOs from the Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Udhampur, Poonch, Rajouri, Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban districts of Jammu Division participated  in the Course.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. S. K. Gupta appreciated the efforts of KVK Jammu for conducting this certificate course on INM for new input dealers. He also launched the newly refined official website of KVK Jammu. A compendium comprising all the lectures delivered during the 15 Day  certificate course was also released by him.

Earlier, Dr. Punit Choudhary, Chief Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu welcomed the chief guest and other scientists in the valedictory function of the course.  He apprised that the participants attended elaborate lectures regarding organic and inorganic fertilizers during the last 15 day, which will ensure that input dealers have the knowledge regarding the various types of fertilizers and their recommended dose for different crops. He also stated that all these participants will become agri-entrepreneurs and they will also give employment to 1-2 persons in their village where they will open their outlet after getting the licence from the Agriculture Department.                  

Dr. Muneeshwar Sharma, Scientist Plant Protection, KVK Jammu gave a brief description and outline of the course and farmers and elaborated upon the objective of conducting this certificate course. Participants from different districts put forward their views on their experience during the 15 days certificate course, they were satisfied with the knowledge and exposure they got during lectures and interaction with the experts from scientists of SKUAST-Jammu, officers of line departments and representatives of IFFCO and Chambal Fertilizers, they were very enthusiastic that now they are eligible to get the fertilizer licence. Dr. Raju Gupta, Programme Assistant Farms coordinated the valedictory programme. Dr. Ravneet Kour, Chief Scientist Horticulture and Dr. Prem Kumar, Scientist Fisheries, addressed the participants regarding various activities of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jammu being run for the farming community of District Jammu. Er. Ashish Katoch, Programme Assistant Computers, Sd. Satvir Singh, Programme Assistant Trainings and Sahil Talgotra, Stenographer, KVK Jammu also helped in the smooth conductance of the Programme. The Programme concluded by vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Raju Gupta.
