17-year fugitive arrested by J&K police in Janipur, Jammu
In a major breakthrough, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested Madan Singh, an absconder who had been evading arrest for 17 years, from Basant Nagar in Janipur area of Jammu.

Singh was wanted in connection with FIR No. 101/2000 registered under sections 452 (house-trespass), 332 (causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 148 (rioting), and 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Nagrota.
The arrest resulted from meticulous planning and persistent efforts by the police, who had been tracking Singh’s movements for several months. Acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a location in Basant Nagar, Janipur. The operation was conducted swiftly to avoid any potential escape by the absconder.
