2 arrested, large cache of illegal tablets seized in Reasi; case registered
In a continuing effort to combat drug abuse, Reasi Police apprehended two individuals and confiscated illegal drugs during a routine checkpoint in the Pouni area.
During a routine checkpoint at Puria, an auto bearing registration number JK20-4275 traveling from Pouni towards Puria, Domail was intercepted for inspection. Upon examination, authorities discovered 18 strips (containing 10 tablets each) of Nuvotram and 45 strips (containing 10 tablets each) of Denpino wrapped in an orange-colored polythene bag concealed within the vehicle’s dashboard.

The driver identified himself as Gopal Krishan, son of Mohan Lal from Bharakh Tehsil Pouni, District Reasi, while the co-driver revealed his name as Rakesh Singh alias Raju, son of Chatur Singh from Pouni. Both individuals failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the presence of the tablets.
Subsequently, a case under FIR No. 11/2024 U/S 8/21/22/29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered at Police Station Pouni, and an investigation was initiated. The arrest was made under the supervision of under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Reasi Neeraj Padyar.
Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi, Mohita Sharma, commended the efforts of the team and reiterated the police’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse from the community.
