2-day Multimedia Exhibition of CBC under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav commences at Mendhar

POONCH, February 24: As part of ongoing Nationwide celebrations of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (AKAM)- to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence, a 2-day Multi-Media Exhibition organized by Central Bureau of Communication Poonch (J&K), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India was today inaugurated by Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Mendhar Jahangir Ahmed Khan, here in at Government Degree College.

  Dr. Mohammad Azam, Principal Government Degree College Mendhar, Prof. Ayaz Ahmad Chaudhary, Convenor Cultural activities GDC, Dr. Mohammad Shafiq, Co-ordinator IQAC, Prof. Murtaza Ahmed, Dr. Tabark Ameen Khan, Prof. Shokit Hussain, Mohammad Latif Choaudhary, Dy. CEO Mendhar, Teachers of GBHSS, GGHSS, GGMS and Government ITI Mendhar, besides students, civil society members at the inaugural function.

Jahangir Ahmed Khan, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Mendhar appreciated the Central Bureau of Communication, J&K for organizing the event at Mendhar and urged the audience to grasp the knowledge being disseminated by the department. He appreciated focused awareness regarding AKAM, Azadi Quest, various Centrally Sponsored Schemes and initiatives of district administration about which resource persons of different departments are giving information through resource persons. He urged the youth to use web portals of various departments to avail the benefits of various schemes under Digital India

Vijay Mattoo, I/c CBC, Poonch (J&K), in his welcome address, said that the Government of India has various schemes for an individual which one can avail right from pre-natal stage to death.

He expressed gratitude towards district Administration and College Authorities for their cooperation and support. He urged the audience to spread the message of the event among common masses to visit the venue as the Exhibition will remain open from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily (Free of Cost)

Prof Mohammad Akram, HoD Department of Education spoke about the evolution of the education system of India and NEP, Jarnail Singh, Resource person from the bank told about PMJDY, PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY and various other schemes related to banking. Rajan Singh from Rural Development Department informed the audience about PMAY, SBM, etc and Sudhir Bakshi from agriculture Department gave a detailed description of various schemes like Soil Health Card, Kissan Credit Card, Fasal Bima Yojna, Kissan Pension Yojna, PM Kissan etc. related to agriculture Department. He also encouraged the audience to adopt mushroom cultivation, poultry, organic farming etc.

The Exhibition showcases India’s struggle for freedom through display panels. Major events of freedom struggle include, Revolt of 1857, Non- Cooperation Movement, Establishment of Home rule, Champaran Satyagraha, Kheda Satyagraha, Jallianwala Bagh Massacre, Khilafat Movement, Chauri-Chaura Incident, Dandi March or Namak Satyagraha, Azad Hind fauj, Quit India Movement, partition of India.

Selfie corner, Seminar (Expert Lectures on Centrally Sponsored Schemes), open quiz,  cultural programmes by empanelled troupe of CBC Jammu and ‘New India Samachar’ magazine (Free Distribution) of Govt. of India were the main attraction for the youth. Winners of the open quiz were awarded on the spot. Students from GBHSS, GGHSS, GGMS and Govt. ITI, Mendhar visited the Exhibition.
