2-Day workshop on ‘Financial Literacy for Youth Programme’ concludes in GDC Vijaypur
SAMBA, May 18: The two day workshop on “Financial Literacy for Youth Programme-FLY” organised by Government Degree College Vijaypur, in collaboration with NISM (National institute for security markets) created by Securities and exchange board of India (SEBI) under the ministry of finance, Government of India, concluded today.
The objective of this programme was to inculcate the habit of saving and investment among youth and also to prepare them for career opportunities in the field of financial services.
The programme started with the welcome address by Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal (HOD Education) where she welcomed the guest and speaker of the workshop Ashok Singla and also briefed the schedule for two days workshop. The proceedings of the programme was conducted by Prof. Anil Bhagat (HOD Commerce) where he explicated about the Financial Literacy for Youth (FLY) and said that Financial Literacy for Youth (FLY) is a Non-Profit organization that offers free services to teach youth about credit, budgeting, scholarships, saving money, the importance of life insurance, how to start a business and how to volunteer with their time and talent.
Speaker of the session Ashok Singla explained about financial markets and explained the concept of investment and its importance in our day to day life. He explained how one should adopt appropriate precautions before making any investments and also explained about mutual funds. He further explained the various objectives of financial education. Speaker of the workshop also detailed about SEBI and various career opportunities in securities markets. Students of the College interacted with the speaker of the session at the end of the workshop and also took part in a question-answer session in the two days long workshop.
Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Gupta congratulated the speaker of the workshop for such an interactive workshop for the students of GDC Vijaypur and also congratulated the organizing team for their efforts in organizing the workshop on the topic that is the need of the hour.
The program was coordinated by Prof. Anil Bhagat (HOD Commerce) and Prof. Poonam Kundan (HOD Environmental Sciences). Participants were given certificates from NISM which can play an important role in getting the job in security markets. Refreshment was also distributed to all the students during the two days workshop.
