2-day Workshop to Celebrate International Women’s Day concludes at GDC Ramgarh
SAMBA, MARCH 07: Government Degree College Ramgarh in collaboration with ‘District Hub for Empowerment of Women’ “Mission Shakti”, under Social Welfare Department Samba, organized a two days workshop to commemorate International Women’s Day. The event was organized under the guidance and supervision of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College.
In her address, she spoke about the theme “Inspire Inclusion” and “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” for International Women’s Day 2024. She emphasized that when we inspire others to understand and value women’s inclusion, we can forge a better world.
The day one of the workshop began with the lecture on First Aid and Life Saving Skill by Ms. Navaya from Care For You (NGO). She educated the students about the theoretical part of the CPR Training and Menstrial Hygiene. After that, Ms. Ritika Banotra, gender specialist, from ‘District Hub for Empowerment of Women’ enlightened the girl students about the various women centric govt. schemes. In the end, a rally was organized and refreshment was also distributed among students.
On day two, poster making competition on the theme ‘Inspire Women’ was organized to celebrate the strength and resilience of women. Also, the practical demonstration of CPR was shown by the team District Health Department. Furthermore, a lecture on Legal Rights of women was delivered by Nisha LADC, Samba and a lecture on gender sensitization was delivered by Mansi Abrol, DHEW to the students. A meet with the local women entrepreneurs of Samba was also organized wherein Ramandeep Kour and Banshika Bhardwaj interacted with students. In the end, certificates to NSS Volunteers were also distributed and all the Resource Persons were felicitated for their support and contribution. Refreshments were also served to the participants.
The programme was attended by the Principal of the College, faculty members of the college, founder of Care For You, DHEW and OSC staff and staff from Mission Vatsalya and Child Line. More than 150 students of GDC Ramgarh attended the Workshop.
