2032 cases settled in Samba National Lok Adalat
SAMBA, May 13: Under the insightful directions of Mr. Justice Tashi Rabstan, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority and also under the radiant guidance of Mr Yesh Paul Kotwal, Worthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba), the 2nd National Lok Adalat of the calendar year 2023 was inaugurated here today.
Yesh Paul Kotwal, Worthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba) inaugurated the National Lok Adalat here in ADR Centre, District Court Complex Samba.
Four Benches were constituted for settling the referred cases. The Bench -1 comprised of Yesh Paul Kotwal, Worthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba) and Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Samba; Bench No 2 was comprised of Adnan Sayed, Additional District & Sessions Judge, Samba and Himani Parihar, Munsiff, Samba; Bench No. 3 included Preet Simran Kour, Chief Judicial Magistrate Samba and Urvashi Raina, Addl. Munsiff, Samba; Bench No. 4 included Ananta Raina, Addl. Spl. Mobile Magistrate, Samba and Shammi Kumar, ARTO Samba.
The matters placed before the Benches included Civil, Criminal Compoundable, Cheque Bounce, Bank Recovery matters, MACT, Matrimonial, Pre-litigation matters, D.V. Act, Negotiable Instrument Act, 125Cr.Pc., and Petty Offence(s) including traffic challans. Secretary District Legal Services Authority Samba coordinated the National Lok Adalat organized at ADR Centre, District Court Complex Samba. A total number of 2238 cases were taken up for amicable settlement out of which 2032 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 17,52,3082 was realized as settlement amount.
Besides this, District Legal Services Authority Samba also organized a Legal Awareness program on “Role of Lok Adalats and Access to Justice” for the students of Dogra Law College Bari Brahamana, Samba and Bhargava College of Education Samba at Conference Hall, ADR Centre wherein Yash Paul Kotwal Worthy Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Samba (also Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Samba) were the chief guest. Worthy Chief Guest in his special address highlighted the scope of lok adalat for the amicable settlement of disputes. He also sensitized the participants that since the legal profession is a noble profession as such for a good lawyer the law students after completion of their LLB Course must work hard at the initial stage of their career. He also highlighted the provisions of Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2019 and the Law laid down by Hon’ble Supreme Court in ‘’Gohar Mohammed Vs Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation and Ors.’’ 2022 Legal Eagle (SC) 1442. Addl. District & Sessions Judge Samba also spoke on the theme of the program. Ms. Rekha Kapoor Nischal, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Samba presented the welcome address whereas the vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Nisha Rani, Deputy Legal Aid Defence Counsel. The proceedings of the program were conducted by Mr. Hitesh Sharma, Panel Advocate, District Legal Services Authority Samba.This awareness program was also attended by all other Ld. Judicial Officers, Subash Singh Sambyal, Senior Advocate, District Court complex Samba, Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel, Panel Advocates, other members of the Bar Association Samba, Faculty members and students from Dogra Law College Bari Brahamana and Bhargava college of Education Samba, staff members of District Court Complex Samba, staff members and workforce of District Legal Services Authority Samba.
