3-day annual Moungri mela commences at Sar Dabbar

UDHAMPUR, MAY 14: The three-day historical Annual Shiv Parvati Mela commenced today at Sar Dabbar in Tehsil & Block Moungri of Udhampur District. The mela was inaugurated by Registrar District Udhampur, Dr. Gurvinder Jeet Singh.


A large number of pilgrims and visitors arrived at Sar Dabbar in Tehsil Moungri, Udhampur District, on the first day of the mela. The pilgrims and natives visited the Shiv Parvati Cave Shrine to seek blessings of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati.
While speaking on the occasion, Registrar District Udhampur congratulated the mela committee for organizing such a grand celebration. He also commended the local students for their participation in various games and cultural programs, wishing them success in their future endeavors.


It is pertinent to mention that people from Bhomag, Panchari, Udhampur, Chenani, and Ramnagar of Udhampur District, as well as from Reasi, Ramban, and Jammu, converge here every year to celebrate the mela and pay obeisance to Bhagwan Shiv in the naturally formed Shiva-Parvati Cave Shrine.
Numerous temporary sweet and toy shops, along with other eateries set up by locals and outside vendors were a major attraction for the public visiting the mela site.
The District Administration has made adequate arrangements for security, transport, medical care, drinking water, and power supply arrangements for the mela.
Different sports activities were also organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Udhampur.


Local artists, including students from different educational institutions, presented scintillating cultural performances on the first day, which were highly appreciated by all.
During the mela, Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, Field Office organised Mini Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme on the sidelines of Annual Shiv Parvati Mela at Sar Dabbar Moungri.


The event also featured an Open Quiz Competition on Indian Freedom Struggle and a Cultural Programmes by the Empanelled Private Registered Troupes. CBC Udhampur distributed Prizes and T-Shirts among the participants of various activities during the day-long event.
