3- Day Capacity building training on Drug Demand Reduction commences at Udhampur
UDHAMPUR, July 24: A Three Day capacity building training programme on Early Detection of Users and Vulnerable Persons and Role of Frontline workers under National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction commenced here today. The training event has been organized by the Department of Social Welfare here at Riwaayat Hall.
Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya was the chief guest while Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr Vinod Kumar was the guest of honour at the inaugural function.
In his address, the Chief Guest enumerated the harmful effects of Drugs and appreciated the Social Welfare department for organizing this awareness training programme. The DC said that such programmes go a long way to create awareness among the public in general and the young generation in particular. He urged the participants to spread awareness about the drug abuse and illicit trafficking in their surroundings to make the society healthy. The DC requested the participants to join hands in fighting the drug abuse to eliminate this social evil from the society to make India a drug free nation. He stressed on inter district coordination for elimination of drugs from society and thanked the Social Welfare department as well as participants.
The Senior Superintendent of Police hazards of drug addiction including the psychological impact on the addicts as well as on their families. The SSP urged the participants to spread awareness amongst the people in general and youth in particular to take necessary steps for curbing drug abuse. He appreciated the tireless efforts made by the Social Welfare department for organizing fruitful capacity building training programmes.
Earlier, District Social Welfare Officer, Kanika Gupta, in her welcome address threw light on ill effects of drugs and educated the participants about reasons why youth fall prey to this grave problem. She added that youth is a very important juncture of life, and it is important for them to invest their attention and energy in the right direction.
