3-Day training for LMD officials concludes at Excise & Taxation Institute Nagrota

JAMMU, APRIL 9: A comprehensive three-day training programme, conducted by the Excise and Taxation Institute Nagrota, concluded here at its campus. The programme was held under the guidance of Anuradha Gupta, Controller, Legal Metrology, J&K, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from Legal Metrology officers representing both Jammu and Kashmir divisions.

The training programme aimed at enhancing enforcement capabilities, promoting uniformity in departmental procedures, and equipping officers with updated knowledge of legal frameworks, technical standards, and operational best practices.

The Programme featured In-depth discussions on the proposed amendments to Draft Enforcement Rules, with a focus on strengthening legal provisions and ensuring their effective implementation at the grassroots level; Review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with special emphasis on ensuring transparency, uniformity, and efficiency across the functioning of the department.

It also featured sessions on the Consumer Protection Act, highlighting the crucial role of Legal Metrology in upholding consumer rights and ensuring regulatory compliance; Technical Deliberations on the Karat Meter, including presentation on calibration, accuracy, and standardisation methods in the verification of gold jewellery was delivered; Interactive Session on the Single Window System wherein Officers actively shared their experiences, feedback, and suggestions to enhance user experience and improve service delivery mechanisms.

In addition to academic and technical deliberations, the programme also included team-building exercises, yoga sessions, and insightful discussions on sustainable development—aimed at promoting holistic well-being and environmental awareness among officers. These sessions were conducted by the resource persons of the Institute, including professionals from IIT Jammu.

The valedictory session was marked by the presence of Controller, Legal Metrology, Anuradha Gupta, and the Principal Excise and Taxation Training Institute Renu Bhasin.

While delivering her closing remarks, the Controller appreciated the quality training organised by the Institute and encouraged all officers to work in close coordination and strive towards shared goals, emphasizing that collective effort strengthens not just the department as an institution, but also enhances individual professional growth and excellence.

The event culminated with a certificate distribution ceremony, where participants received their certificates from Controller Anuradha Gupta and Principal, Excise and Taxation Institute Renu Bhasin.

The participants left the programme with renewed enthusiasm, reaffirming their commitment to continuous learning, legal reform, and dedicated service to uphold consumer rights and regulatory integrity across J&K.
