3 OGWs apprehended by Sopore police; pistol and incriminating materials seized
In a significant operation conducted jointly by Sopore Police, along with 22 RR and 179 BN CRPF, three Over-Ground Workers (OGWs) were apprehended on March 31, 2024. The operation unfolded at Fruit Mandi crossing in Sopore, Baramulla, where security forces observed suspicious behavior from the trio.

The apprehended individuals were identified as Faisal Ahmad Kachroo, Aquib Mehraj Kana, and Adil Akber Gojree, all residents of Sopore. Police reports indicate that upon noticing suspicious behavior, the trio attempted to flee the scene. They were subsequently intercepted and apprehended.
A subsequent search led to the recovery of a pistol and mobile phones containing incriminating evidence. The nature of the incriminating material has not been disclosed by authorities. The three individuals were unable to justify the contents of their phones.
Based on the recovered items, a case has been registered under FIR No.68/2024 under sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at Police Station Sopore. Investigations into the case are currently ongoing.
