381 beneficiaries assessed during assessment camp with ALIMCO
Leh, April 15: A total of 381 senior citizens and persons with disabilities were assessed during the series of assessment camps held at different places which was organised by Social Welfare Department, Leh in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) under Assistance to Disabled Persons (ADIP) Scheme and Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) Scheme.
Out of the total 381 beneficiaries, 103 PwDs were assessed under ADIP scheme while 278 senior citizens were assessed under RVY scheme.
In the last and final assessment camp held today at Paras Hall, Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Leh, 104 beneficiaries, including 45 senior citizens and 59 PwDs were assessed by a team of doctors from ALIMCO and SNM Hospital Leh.
Similarly, 21 Unique Disability Identity Cards (UDIDs) were also issued.
The assessment camps were conducted with the aim to ensure that assistive devices could be distributed on the need and requirement basis of each intended beneficiary.
It is informed that assistive devices and rehabilitation aids such as Wheelchairs, Hearing aids, Lower Limb Orthotics Calipers (Knee Braces), Lower and Upper Limb Prosthetics (artificial leg and hand), Walking sticks/cane, etc will be provided to the senior citizens and specially-abled persons during a distribution camp later.
