3rd National Lok Adalat organized across Kashmir Division
SRINAGAR, September 09:The 3rd National Lok Adalat (NLA) was organized today across the Kashmir Division by District Legal Service Authorities (DLSA) under the patronage of J&K Legal Services Authority to help parties to settle the disputes & cases amicably through mutual agreements and compromise.
National Lok Adalats were organised under the able guidance and directions of Justice Mr. N. Kotiswar Singh, the Chief Justice of High Court of J&K and Ladakh (Patron-in- Chief) J&K Legal Services Authority and Justice Tashi Rabstan, Executive Chairman J&K Legal Services Authority at District Court Complex Mominabad, Srinagar.
Cases for settlement included cases of Civil, Criminal Compoundable, Cheque bounce, Traffic Challans, Bank matters, MACT, Land Compensation, Matrimonial, Electricity and Pre-litigation matters. Further, Pre-litigation matters were taken up, which included PDD matters, bank recovery matters, PHE cases, Social Welfare Schemes, matrimonial disputes, land disputes, BSNL cases, municipality cases and other Government schemes etc.
In Srinagar, The National Lok Adalat (NLA) was inaugurated by Jawad Ahmed Chairman DLSA Srinagar, District Court Complex Srinagar in presence of Judicial officers of District Srinagar.
The zenith of the event was the gracious visit of Justice Atul Sreedharan, Judge High Court of J&K and Ladakh (Administrative Judge for District Srinagar) to various benches constituted by DLSA Srinagar for settlement of cases. Justice Atul Sreedharan also distributed compensation cheques in Motor Vehicle Accident related cases to the tune of Rs. 13,659,065 among the beneficiaries. This symbolic gesture symbolizes the essence of Lok Adalat which seeks to alleviate the suffering of deserving and needy.
Each Court had identified cases for the Lok Adalat beforehand and same were placed before Eleven (11) different benches constituted by DLSA Srinagar for settlement in National Lok Adalat.
In Motor Vehicle accident related cases Lok- Adalat bench of Ms. Jeema Bashir and Ms. Aarti Mohan awarded compensation to the tune of Rs.437,80,757 and in bank cases, bench of Mr. Arvind Sharma and Ms. Renu Dogra awarded a settlement amount of Rs. 90,24,203.
A total number of 48316 matters were taken up for their amicable settlement, out of which 40962 matters were settled. Besides, an amount of Rs. 19,96,37,423 was realized in the settlement.
In Budgam, the NLA was inaugurated by Khalil Ahmad Choudhary Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairman District Legal Services Authority) Budgam, at District Court Complex Budgam. Each Court had identified cases for Lok Adalat beforehand and same were placed before Six (06) different benches constituted by DLSA Budgam for their settlement in National Lok Adalat.
A total number of 1597 matters were taken up for their amicable settlement, out of which 981 matters were settled. Besides, an amount of Rs. 11,27,49,417 was realized in total in the settlement.
In Baramulla, DLSA organised National Lok Adalat today at District Court Complex Baramulla & other Courts of District under the Chairmanship of Mohammad Ashraf Malik, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge), Baramulla and under the Supervision of Iqbal Ahmad Akhoon, Secretary DLSA, Special Mobile Magistrate Baramulla.
The Lok Adalat was comprised of 09 Benches including 04 benches at District court Baramulla, 04 benches were constituted while 01 bench was constituted at Sopore court, 01 bench at Pattan court, 01 bench at Uri court, 01 bench at Dangiwacha court and 01 bench at Tangmarg court.
A total 783 different Cases/ matters were taken up in which 526 different Cases/matters were amicably settled. An amount of Rs. 4,64,44,885 was realized in different cases amicably settled.
In Pulwama, the National Lok Adalat was organized in District Court Complex Pulwama under the Chairmanship of Naseer Ahmad Dar Chairman District Legal Service Authority ( Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Pulwama.
The National Lok Adalat was inaugurated by the Chairman DLSA Pulwama in presence of all judicial officers & bar members of District Court Pulwama. Total 05 benches were constituted out of which 02 benches were constituted for holding of National Lok Adalat at District headquarters & other three benches at Tehsil Levels of the District Pulwama.
All these benches were also assisted by the Mediator, Panel Lawyer, and PLVs of their respective jurisdiction. Total 568 cases of different nature were taken up before five benches out of which 263 cases were amicably settled and an amount of Rs2477702 was realized and an amount of Rs10153470 has been settled in MACT, Bank recovery & 138 N.I. Act Cases with the efforts of the presiding officers as well as by the cooperation of Bar members of the respective Courts.
In Bandipora, National Lok Adalat was held under the supervision of Chairman District Legal Services Authority, (Pr. District & Session Judge) Bandipora Amit Sharma and guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak Secretary DLSA, Bandipora.
A total of Seven (07) Benches were constituted of Presiding Officers and other Members for amicable settlement or compromise of the referred cases.
479 Cases were taken up by the Benches and out of which 205 Cases were settled as disposed. A total sum of 6,07,886/- was awarded to the aggrieved parties by settlement during the said Lok Adalat.
The National Lok Adalat concluded with distribution of victim compensation cheque of Rs. 2,00,000 to a victim under Victim Compensation Scheme, 2013 presented by chairman, DLSA (Pr. Distt. & Sessions Judge) Bandipora with the aim/ intention to provide financial assistance to the victim to meet her daily needs.
In Shopian, National Lok Adalat was held today in the premises of District Court Complex Shopian under the Chairmanship of Riaz-Ul-Haq Mirza, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Session Judge) Shopian.
In the said National Lok Adalat, besides advocates, litigants, prominent citizens also participated in the national Lok Adalat.
Total no of 147 Cases were taken up, out of which 90 Cases were settled amicably in the today’s National Lok Adalat with a settlement amount Rs.2,66,200.
In Kulgam, National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex Kulgam and other Taluka Courts of District Kulgam under the Chairmanship of Mohammad Ashraf Bhat (Pr. District and Session Judge Kulgam/Chairman District Legal Services Authority Kulgam) and the said National Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Chairman DLSA Kulgam.
Six benches were constituted, 04 at Head quarter & 01 each at D.H.Pora and Qazigund. In the said NLA 667 cases were taken up out of which 187 cases were amicably settled. An amount of Rs.17,74,050 was realized in different cases.
In Anantnag, Lok-Adalat was organized in District Court & other subordinate courts of District Anantnag under the Chairmanship of Mr. Jaffer Hussain Beigh, PDJJ Anantnag.
The Lok-Adalat at District headquarters Anantnag was inaugurated by PDJ Anantnag. The inauguration function was also attended by Judicial Officers of District Anantnag.
By the concerted efforts of all presiding officers of all the courts, cooperation rendered by the learned advocates and officers of various government departments, insurance companies and banking institutions a total number of 1527 cases were taken up by 07 benches in the district out of which 831 cases were settled in the
Lok-Adalat.
An amount of Rs, 1,44,22,936 was awarded as settlement amount in all cases including award of Rs. 50.55 lacs in 03 MACT Cases in the Lok-Adalat.
In Ganderbal, the Lok-Adalat was held under the supervision & Chairmanship of Ritesh Kumar Dubey, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Ganderbal, and under the guidance of Ms. Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal.
National Lok-Adalat was constituted of Five benches for the amicable settlement of cases.
Overall 959 number of cases were taken up for settlement out of which 816 cases were amicably settled or compromised on spot & Rs. 5046128 was awarded as settlement amount in Bank recovery matters, Public Utility matters, 138 NI Act Cases, Civil, MACT Cases and other matters.
