4 Day special series of Mission LiFE activities conclude in GDC Kishtwar
KISHTWAR, May 30: The four day special series of activities related to environment under Mission LiFE, concluded today in Government Degree College Kishtwar. The event was inaugurated in the Botany department on 27th of May 2023 by the college Principal, Dr Jyoti Parihar in the presence of HoD Botany, Faisal Mushtaq, HoD Economics, Prof. Sarita Parihar and HoD Environment Science, Dr Sehrish Gazal & Prof Sushil Kumar.
The Mission LiFE is an India- led global mass movement to nudge individual and community action to protect and preserve the environment.
The Botany Department, during the 4 day program, organised various events related to environmental protection like lecture sessions on various topic including Agriculture for sustainable development , Social forestry, Global environmental changes ,Plant resource utilization, In-vitro germination technique and Hydroponics.
Students were imparted practical training about the maintenance and management of various local medicinal and food plants including the three varieties of Millets which are cultivated in the region.
The College Principal Dr. Jyoti Parihar, in her address, stressed on the need to have an environment friendly lifestyle and ways to contribute significantly towards this great initiative. She expressed satisfaction over the working of the department and the environmental friendly steps taken by the department in the last couple of months.
The events concluded with vote of thanks by Staff secretary & Senior most faculty of the college Prof Umar Din Rather. The staff and students of the botany department pledged to work with utmost dedication and sincerity for the conservation of the environment in the coming future.
