5th National Conference on Recent Trends in Mathematical Sciences inaugurated at SMVDU
REASI, March 21: A Two-Day National Conference on “Recent Trends in Mathematical Sciences” inaugurated at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra on 21 st March 2024. The conference was organized by the School of Mathematics in Association with MMTTC- SMVDU. Prof.(Dr.) Pragati Kumar, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, SMVDU, and Prof. S.D. Sharma, Former Head, Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu were the Chief
Guest and Guest of Honor at the occasion, respectively. Prof. Pragati Kumar recalled
some motivational stories of stalwarts in the field of Mathematics and nicely explained
the utilization of concepts of Mathematic in Engineering. Prof. S. D. Sharma highlighted
the fundamental concepts in Mathematics and their real-life implications. Dr. Sunil
Kumar Wanchoo, Dean, Faculty of Sciences encouraged the organizers to broaden the
horizon of the conference. Participants across the nation turned up for the conference to
showcase their research work.
Prof. Rakesh Kumar, Punjabi University, Patiala, Prof. Sartaj Ui Hasan, IIT, Jammu, Prof.
Ajay K. Sharma, Head, Department of Mathematics, Central University of Jammu, Dr.
Varun Jain, Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala, Dr. Navneet Lal Sharma, Gati Shakti
Vishvavidyalaya, Vadodara, Gujrat attended the inaugural session. Dr. Kuldip Raj, Head,
School of Mathematics and Convener of the Conference introduced the theme of the
conference and welcomed the delegates. Dr. Surender Singh, Coordinator of the
conference proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. A. K. Das, Coordinator of the conference,
Dr. Sandeep Bhougal and Dr. Sandeep Sharma, Organizing Secretaries smoothly
handled all the activities of the inaugural session. Among the audience, Dr. Vineet Tyagi,
Dean, Research and Development, Dr. Sanjeev Anand, Associate Dean, Research and
Development, Dr. Roop Lal Sharma, Head, School of Economics, Dr. Kamini Patania,
Senior Faculty, School of Physics were the eminent faculty colleagues from SMVDU.
