57 bovine smugglers arrested in 4 months across Samba: SSP Benam Tosh
SAMBA, 18 May 2023: District Police arrested 2 notorious bovine smugglers and foiled 2 separate bovine smuggling attempts and rescued 28 bovine animals on Thursday.
Police foiled 2 separate bovine smuggling attempts at Nud and Mansar, registered 2 separate FIRs under section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and section 188 IPC and 2 notorious smugglers have been arrested. Further investigation is underway.
The bovines were smuggled to Kashmir Valley during odd prohibited hours obviously to escape from police clutches.
Arrested notorious bovine smugglers have been identified as Bhotu r/o Khairi Kheri tehsil Bishnah district Jammu and Shadab r/o Saharanpur (U.P).
Nearly 57 bovine smugglers have been arrested by Samba Police in 4 months after the launch of a special drive on the directions of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, 52 FIRs have been registered against bovine smugglers, 43 vehicles used for bovine smuggling have been seized and five 537 bovine animals have been rescued.
