NC Women Wing severely reprimands BJP over inflation

UDHAMPUR, April 10: National Conference’s Provincial President of Women Wing, Satwant Kaur Dogra today lashed out at the BJP-led government at the Centre over rising prices of fuel, alleging  that due to the wrong policies of the Government, inflation is sky-rocketing and there is no relief to the poor people.

Satwant during an interactive session with office bearers of the party at block Sewna of Udhampur listened to the grievances of the women, who apprised the NC leader of their day-to-day problems. They said that PMUY hasn’t been completely effective as poor households find it difficult to pay for and get regular LPG cylinder refills and the monthly budget for food and grocery, including staples, vegetables, fruits and dairy products, was a great concern due to steep price rise.

The program was organized by  Udhampur (R ) District President of Women Wing V.D.Surishta while District President  Ram Purshottam Sharma was the Guest of Honour. Provincial Vice President Pushpa Dogra, Rama Gupta and Jagdish Bhardwaj accompanied the Provincial President.

Satwant  said  that controlling inflation and ushering ‘Achhe Din were the major poll planks of the BJP leaders but after attaining power party is protecting interests of only corporate world. She reminisced that top BJP leadership at the Centre held massive protests while in opposition days blaming the then Government of failure to control the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG. It was ironical that after their ascendance to power, the very same leaders imposed huge taxes upon the essential commodities and raised their prices to unprecedented level, she said. “The BJP had proved itself as the party of the rich and the corporate without bothering for the woes and sufferings of the poor and middle class people. It was eliminating poor and not the poverty”, she said.

She exhorted women to strengthen National Conference at grass root level and maintain peace and harmony, saying this will be a befitting reply to those who want to divide the society on religious and regional lines.

Speaking on the occasion, District President Ram Purshotam Sharma blamed the government’s mismanagement for the collapse of the economy and said that the rising prices of cooking fuel, petrol, diesel, and expensive groceries is a great concern for every household. He said that the government is looting people of their hard-earned money by increasing the prices manifold and added that during the tenure of UPA government, BJP leaders used to “make a lot of noise” over the issue of inflation but now they are conveniently silent. She demanded its rollback and regulation of the fee structure of private educational institutions to provide relief to the common man from the onslaught of rising prices.

District President of Women Wing V D Surishta said National Conference (NC) is not a mere political party, but a movement with well-defined political agenda and workers of the NC have withstood all challenges and proven their loyalty towards people and party.
