Congress observes 138 Foundation Day
Launches Bharat Jodo Yatra awareness programme from Verinag

Srinagar Dec 28. Congress today observed 138th Foundation Day recalling the great contributions and services rendered by the Party to the Nation pre- and post-Independence thereby taking its prestige to the heights in respect of defense, economy, education inclusive development, besides securing communal harmony in the country.
The Party also launched Bharat Jodo Yatra awareness programme from Omoh Verinag in South Kashmir, declaring that the Yatra is scheduled to enter J&K on 22 January and shall conclude by 30th January while expressing confidence that the Yatra will be very successful given its significance and the Party’s commitment to defeat the hate and divisive politics in the Country.
Congress party was credited for unifying people and maintaining secular fabric, diversity and multiplicity in the country, Wani said.
JKPCC President took the opportunity of the event and extended his fervent appeal to socio political organizations to participate in the upcoming Bharat Jodo Yatra of Congress which have developed a hope amongst the country men while having the potential to bring the Nation out of the morass and vitiated atmosphere created by BJPs hate politics.
Addressing the Party workers Former J&K Pradesh Congress Committee President Ghulam Ahmad Mir termed Congress Party a formidable force to reckon with saying that it will continue to serve the Nation despite malicious propaganda and the challenges. Mir extended his greeting to all the Congress workers across the country on the 138th Foundation Day and expressed full confidence that BJPs strategies to undermine democracy in the Country will be defeated.
Congress lives in the hearts of all countrymen and enjoys their trust and confidence, for the fact, Congress Party has taken the prestige of the Nation to the heights, served and strengthened people to the best of its ability, Mir added.
Launching BJY Awareness programme from Omoh Verinag, Former JKPCC President expected that all the right thinking people including NGOs, Social & Secular Political organizations will join Yatra, which is scheduled to pass through Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Udhampur, Ramban, Banihal, Anantnag, Pulwama and then conclude in Srinagar District followed by grand rally which will be addressed by Rahul Gandhi and top leaders of the Party.
On this occasion Mir highlighted the deceitful policies of the BJP towards J&K and said the people shall never forgive BJP for failing them on all counts besides abandoning J&K of electoral process to serve its political ends. One fails to understand as to what BJP wants from JK People despite knowing that it stands rejected given its divisive policies and political exploitation.
We need to move on to defeat the designs of BJP RSS, who were hellbent upon to divide people on regional, religious lines for the sake of votes and power, Mir told the largely gathering of party workers.
Senior Congress Leaders Bashir Ahmad Magrey, Surinder Singh Channi, Shaheena Neda, Abid Kashmiri, Prince Sheikh, Ch.Akhter Kasana, Shabir Ahmad Dar, Mohd Saleem Ganie, Mohd Iqbal Mir, Ali Mohd Mantoo, Farooq Ahmad Bhat, Khalid Muzaffar Dar, Javed Magray, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Amir Khan Batala and various other leaders addressed and urged the large gathering of workers to remain steadfast to serve people and strengthen Congress Party further.
They also vowed to make Bharat Jodo Yatra very successful. JKPCC President Vikar Rasool Wani also hoisted party flag at Srinagar Party Office and extended greetings to party workers on 138th Congress Party’s foundation Day. Similar workers’ meeting was held at Achabal in Rafiabad area of Baramulla District to mark 138th foundation Day of Congress Party.
Addressing the gathering JKPCC President said that we are celebrating Party’s 138th foundation day and we remember our founding fathers who laid the foundation of Congress and made valuable contributions to the overall development of the Nation. Their services and sacrifices shall continue to inspire generations.
Wani also reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Bharat Jodo Yatra and urged Party cadres to work hard to make the Yatra successful. Among others who addressed included DCC President Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Altaf Malik, Bashir Ahmad Khan, Ab.Rashid Dar(Sangrama) Nazir Ahmad Lone, Amir Khan and various other Party leaders.
