LPCC celebrates Earth Day in collaboration with Lamdon School
Leh, April 21: Ladakh Pollution Control Committee celebrated Earth Day 2023 in collaboration with Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Leh in the presence of the chief guest Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, UT Ladakh, Jigmet Takpa.
This year, the theme for Earth Day is ‘Invest in Our Planet’, which highlights the importance of dedicating our time, resources, and energy to solving climate change and other environmental issues. Investing in our planet is necessary to protect it and the best way to pave a path toward a prosperous future.
Ladakh Pollution Control Committee in collaboration with Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School organised a painting and essay writing competition. Actively participating in the competition, the students presented various means through which an individual can create an inclusive and impactful movement that is impossible to ignore.
Chief guest Jigmet Takpa, also the Member Secretary of the Ladakh Pollution Control Committee, emphasized caring for mother nature to build a better future. While interacting with students, he urged them to participate in the movement for protecting the environment as they are the future.
Earlier, Regional Director, LPCC, Aditya Madanpotra, delivered the welcome speech and focused on the transformation needed for a healthy earth. Adding that transformation requires actions at all levels, he shared that all stakeholders, including governments, private sectors, and individuals should be held accountable for their role in our environmental crisis.
LPCC is responsible for monitoring and regulating environmental pollution in the Ladakh region. The Committee ensures compliance with environmental laws and regulations to protect the health and well-being of the people and the environment.
