G20 Cell: GDC Ramgarh organises 3 day awareness activities
SAMBA, April 24: G20 Cell of the Government Degree College Ramgarh, in collaboration with Eco Club, Department of Environmental Sciences and NSS Unit, organised a series of activities to Commemorate the World Earth Day from April 22-24, 2023 under the theme of One Earth, One Family, One Future in India’s G20 Presidency and to mark Jan Bhagidari “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam.” The event was held under the guidance and coordination of Prof.(Dr.) Satinder Kaur, Principal of the College.
On April 22, a Documentary was screened in online mode for the students of the College. The contents of the documentary were to explore the landscapes and beauty of nature and how to protect our planet with sustainable development. A large number of students as well as faculty members of the College participated in the event.

An online Intra- College Quiz competition was organized on April 23, 2023. A total of 75 students of the college participated in the Quiz. First position was shared by Anshika Virdi and Prachi Virdi, both students of Semester 4th, while Rahul Kumar-Semester 2nd, Amandeep-Semester 2nd and Malkit Kour-Semester 4th, Rahul Kumar-Semester 2nd shared the second position while the third position was shared by Prinka-Semester 2nd, Varsha Slariya-Semester 4th and Anish Thappa-Semester 2nd.
A model making competition on Energy Conservation was also organized in the college premises and 12 students participated in the event. The first position was bagged by Malkit Kour and Inderjeeet Kour. They presented a working model on energy Conservation through the medium of Windmill. Meena Kumari secured the second position while Vishal Kumar clicked the third position.
On the concluding day of the series of activities organized by the College, Prof.(Dr.) Satinder Kaur, Principal of the College said that the day is observed to spread awareness about issues, including the rampant increase in pollution from excess use of Natural Resource, global warming, and deforestation, which harm the environment and result in the destruction of the planet.
She added that the theme of World Earth Day 2023 is “Invest in Our Planet”, calling for businesses to shift towards sustainable practices which is also one of the strategies under India G20 Presidency in 2023 and we need to act boldly, innovate broadly, and implement equitably.
