Says no purpose of holding Y20 when youth are victim of rampant corruption

UDHAMPUR 28 April : Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President NC Jammu today exhorted upon the party cadre to gear up for the upcoming Urban Local Body (ULB) polls in the state.

He was addressing a meeting of party workers at Udhampur on Friday in connection with upcoming ULB elections in the state. The meeting was organised by Sunil Verma, District President JKNC Udhampur

At the beginning of the meeting, Sunil Verma apprised the senior functionaries of the Party that the Municipal Council of Udhampur has miserably failed to address civic issues of the district. He alleged that siphoning of funds and unproductive expenditure made the Municipal Council unproductive. He asserted that there has been no development on ground about which the government has been making tall claims. In fact the people are decrying for basic amenities besides tormented by receiving false and hefty power bills, no regular water supply and lack of medical facilities, he added.

Rattan Lal Gupta said that the Municipal bodies across the state have become the den of corruption and the people are fed up of the poor performance given by the incumbent helmsmen running the municipalities/ Councils, Corporations.

Criticizing the government at the Centre for betraying the youth, Rattan Lal said that today the youth of Jammu and Kashmir feeling isolated, discriminated and in utter frustration due to hollow policies of the centre and youth are indulging in drug related activities. He said unemployment is at peak in J&K and the youth can clearly see how they have been plunged into darkness with a bleak future ahead under the BJP regime at the Centre running a proxy Govt in J&K.

The senior NC leader asserted that BJP as well as its Government has a track record of making hollow promises and raising false slogans never to be fulfilled. Even the commitment made by LG Administration with unemployed youth of J&K for creating adequate facilities for their future has miserably failed, he added.

“Today, hospitals are facing dearth of doctors and para medical staff and health centres running without doctors and specialists, schools facing shortage of teachers and infrastructure, highly educated youth of J&K have become a victim of adhocism, contractual system and academic arrangements in the Govt colleges,” he said, adding that promise of government for raising Border Battalion has also become a hoax.

Rattan Lal Gupta questioned that what is the purpose of holding international conferences like Y20 when the Government has miserably failed to fulfil the aspirations of youth? It’s unfortunate that today youth are going over-aged due to rampant corruption in Jammu and Kashmir as present every recruitment are witnessing scam after scams. Therefore it is the time for the National Conference activists to expose all these facts before the people to garner their support and win the aforesaid polls.

The Provincial President asked the party cadre to gird up loins to make a mark in the forthcoming ULB polls as the chances of the party are bright this time because people have been disappointed by the poor performance of incumbent government.

Pradeep Bali, Provincial Secretary JKNC said that ground level workers can play the active role in changing the course of ULB polls therefore it is significant that NC cadre should mobilize the grass-root level workers to ensure resounding victory in the upcoming polls.
