DC Kathua reviews functioning of Urban Local Bodies

KATHUA, May 09: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rakesh Minhas today reviewed the functioning of Urban Local Bodies here at a meeting held in the Conference Hall of DC office complex.

CPO, Chief Executing Officer, Kathua MC, EO Hiranagar, EO Lakhanpur, EO parole, EO Basohli, EO Billawar, Manager Housing Colony Kathua were present.

A detailed review of overall functioning of Urban Local Bodies including sanitation and waste management was held. The meeting also reviewed the progress on other major projects being executed by municipalities for augmentation of development infrastructure and amenities in urban areas of the district.

The DC also held detailed deliberations on revenue collection, PM SVANidhi, PMAY-U besides taking appraisal of ongoing works under My Town My Pride, IDMT, 14 F.C etc. The concerned executing officers apprised the Deputy Commissioner about the progress and expected time of completion of the under execution works.

It was given out in the meeting that a total of 2779 applications under PMAY-Urban have been approved under which 1296 houses were completed and work on remaining houses is going on at different stages.

DC passed a slew of directions for ensuring smooth functioning of the department. He said that public spaces are the face of the district and every effort must be made to keep them clean. He said the issue of shortage of staff in municipalities shall be taken up with appropriate authorities so as to augment human resource support with other required infrastructure.
