Lecture Series initiated on “Indian Ethos and Human Values” at TBS, Jammu University

Jammu, May 16: The Business School, University of Jammu initiated a lecture Series on “Indian Ethos and Human Values”, which is in line with the New Education Policy. The first lecture in the series on “The Timeless Wisdom of GITA” was delivered by Dr Arvind Jasrotia, Professor of Law and Registrar, University of Jammu. The event commenced with the formal welcome address by Prof. Vinay Chauhan, Director The Business School. He apprised the audience about the event and the relevance of the theme in the present context of the Management Education.

The resource person highlighted the importance of Upanishads, GITA and Brahmasutra in creating philosophical ideology that marks the foundation for human values. He further emphasized that GITA has been studied and praised for centuries for its clarity, insight and wealth of spiritual knowledge that forms the guidebook for living a meaningful and joyful life. The spiritual journey from ignorance to knowledge enlightens the path of human beings to create a difference in society. The speaker related the teachings of GITA to Management education by bringing the old truths into a new context. The speaker explained that Indian ethos and values guide human beings in living a life with truthfulness, purity, compassion, forgiveness, self-satisfaction, simplicity, equality and control.

Prof. Alka Sharma delivered concluding remarks and formal vote of thanks, where she highlighted the role of spiritual quotient in the modern day workplace. While, Prof. Sameer Gupta presented a floral token of appreciation along with memento to the resource person.

The thrilled audiences raised many queries and were really impressed to know about the wisdom of GITA. The session was attended by faculty members, research scholars and students of The Business School. The Session was coordinated by Dr. Saloni Devi and Dr. Shelleka Gupta, who are also the coordinators for the lecture series.
