DDC Samba evaluates Farmers Orientation on Holistic Agriculture Development Program
Visits Panchayat Patyari, sensitises Farmers, Youth about Government Schemes
SAMBA, MAY 24: The Agriculture Production Department of the Jammu & Kashmir Government has launched a groundbreaking outreach initiative called “Kisan Sampark Abhiyan” under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program. Commenced on April 24, 2023, this transformative program will continue till August 31, 2023, with the overarching objective of doubling the income of farmers across the region.
Currently, in its fifth phase, the program is being conducted at nine venues to orient the farmers about the flagship Holistic Agriculture Development Plan. The venues are Panchayat Jatwal, Badheri, Mananu, Rajpura Patli, Trindi, Khara Madana Upper, Bagla Jakh, and Patyari, are spread across all nine blocks of the Samba District.
On the third day of the fifth round, District Development Commissioner of Samba, Sh. Abhishek Sharma, visited the Panchayat Patyari of Sumb block to evaluate the progress of the Farmers Orientation on the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP).
During his visit, the DC actively engaged with the farmers and youth, emphasizing the importance of comprehending the salient features of various projects and schemes under the HADP. He particularly urged unemployed youths to seize the opportunity provided by this program for achieving self-sustenance in various sectors. Additionally, the District Development Commissioner issued directives to the heads of agriculture and allied sectors to ensure proper sensitization of farmers and youth regarding the government schemes.
Elected representatives including Balwan Singh, Chairman of the Block Development Council (BDC) and other PRI representatives were present during the visit of DC.
On the concluding day of the fifth round, a remarkable number of 445 farmers attended the orientation program, and comprehensive baseline data of 443 farmers was meticulously captured on the spot.
The Kisan Sampark Abhiyan, under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program, represents a pioneering effort by the Jammu & Kashmir Government to empower farmers and foster sustainable agricultural practices. By facilitating knowledge dissemination, fostering skill development, and providing essential support, this program promises to revolutionize the agricultural landscape, ensuring enhanced incomes and improved livelihoods for farmers.
