SSB personnel injured in accidental firing in Chhattisgarh

Kanker, Jun 12 (PTI) A constable from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) sustained a bullet injury when he accidentally fired his INSAS rifle in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on Monday, police said.

The incident took place when a team from the SSB was heading to Antagarh town in the district to provide security at the railway station this morning, an official said.

According to the police, the firing occurred near the railway tracks in Tumpal, around 200 km south of state capital Raipur.

“Constable Indrajeet Yadav accidentally fired his INSAS rifle and sustained a bullet injury to his shoulder. He was immediately rushed to the community health centre in Antagarh,” sub-divisional officer of police Amar Sidar said.

Yadav’s condition is stable and he has been referred to Raipur for better treatment, he said.
