Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu organizes “Yoga for Meditation and Fitness Camp”
Jammu, June 13- As an endeavour to prepare for the upcoming International Yoga Day, one day “Yoga for Meditation and Fitness Camp” was organised by Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu under the patronage of Prof. Umesh Rai, esteemed Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu and under the Rectorship of Prof. Yash Pal Sharma, Rector, Udhampur Campus, University of Jammu in collaboration with Govt Ayush Dispensary, Malhar, Udhampur.
In his message to the students and the society, Prof. Sharma stated that the ancient Indian culture and heritage science such as Ayurveda has always played a role as a preventive method that has been at the forefront to strengthen our immunity and find ways to live a healthy and safe lifestyle. This is what has been envisaged in the concept of LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) conceived by the hon’ble Prime minister of India, Sh Narinder Modi for humans living across the globe, said Prof Sharma
The camp was organised under the supervision of Dr. Shefali Sharma (Medical Officer) and Dr. Shameem (Medical officer) along with her team of Yoga therapist, Mr. Sunil Bhogale and Mr. Baldev Sharma (Multitasking worker). The purpose of the camp was to raise awareness of both physical and mental fitness among the general masses, especially students as meditation and yoga can develop the ability to cope with stress and can maintain calm in pressuring situations. All the participants enjoyed various yoga asanas instructed by Mr. Sunil Bhogale during the session. Later on, Ayurvedic medicines were also distributed among the participants. The session was attended by the students, the local community of Garnai Lotta area and faculty members of Udhampur Campus (Dr. Mamta Sharma, Ms Taruna Dubey, Dr. Ritika Sambyal, Dr. Kamini Dutta and Mr. Nikhil Khajuria).
