Director Rural Sanitation visits CD Block Qamarwari & Harwan

Assess progress being achieved under Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen

SRINAGAR, June 24: The Director Rural Sanitation, Charandeep Singh today visited CD Block Qamarwari and Harwan to assess progress being achieved under centrally sponsored scheme Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen. 

The Director was appraised by the ACP and concerned BDOs about the steps being taken by this District to ensure saturation of all verticals under SBM-G, so that all the villages are declared as ODF Plus model villages. 

At the outset of his visit, the Director took inspection of the soakage pits, compost pits and IEC activities being carried out in Panchayat Halqa Panzinara-A and Panzinara-B of Block Qamarwari.

 Later, the Director also inspected several other SBM verticals including Community Sanitary Complexes (CSC), Segregation Sheds etc. being constructed at different locations of Block Harwan wherein he emphasized to accelerate the pace of work so that such projects are completed well within the stipulated time. 

The Director stressed upon all the stakeholders to make all efforts to utilize all resources, so that this District is made free from all types of waste. 

He praised efforts of officers and officials of this District for embracing model of Srinagar Municipal Corporation while combating disposal of waste. He expressed hope that the soakage and compost pits are constructed in all the panchayats in saturation mode. 

The Director also inspected infrastructure related to cleanliness viz. Dustbins and bailing machines. 

The Director was also accompanied by PRI members in both Blocks and he urged upon them to play proactive Role for Sustainability of Behavioral Change.
