DC Doda reviews performance of Banks

Seeks focus on Priority Sectors, convergence of Self Employment Schemes with Agro & Allied Start ups and Tourism Sector

DODA, JUNE 27: District Level Review Committee/District Consultative Committee (DLRC/DCC) meeting was held today under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda, Vishesh Mahajan here in the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex Doda, to review the performance of the Banks and other Financial Institutions.

DC has urged the banks and the government agencies to focus on the Priority sector, especially in the Agro and Allied activities, to utilise the natural resources in achieving sustainable livelihood for the district.

He stressed on the motivation of the unemployed youth with proper hand holding in agro based ventures/ start-ups, including processing of the local agro products.

DC has urged the RBI officials and Bank authorities to take the decisions of the DLRC meeting with utmost seriousness to cater to the financial needs of the district for its overall development. Taking cognisance of the absence of some bankers and officers, Vishesh Mahajan has asked them to explain the reasons for their absence in the DLRC meet.

Chairman/ DC has urged banks and sponsoring agencies to encourage and handhold innovative entrepreneurs and give them all the permissible help in setting up their business units. Chairman has asked the concerned to identify piece of land on Bhadarwah Road for setting up Tourism Industry and the banks have been asked to finance the Tourism sector to create an opportunity for the unemployed youth and the district to earn from the great potential of the tourism and promote the local tourist places, cultural heritage and traditions.

  While emphasising the need for penetration of social security schemes in society, the Chairman has asked all the banks to subscribe their account holders (eligible and willing) to register for PMJJBY, PMSBY, and APY. Besides, directions have been made to enrol eligible/ willing beneficiaries of MGNREGA, Social Welfare schemes, and other such beneficiaries for the said social security schemes so that the poor can get financial security.

During the meeting DC held threadbare discussion with regard to the lending in priority, non priority, agro sector, number of cases sponsored by the intending departments, the cases sanctioned, cases disbursed, and cases pending for disbursement. Besides, the committee also reviewed the implementation of Mumkin scheme, Tejaswani, PMEGP, MUDRA, NULM, NPAs, and progress of ADHAAR linkage and Mobile seeding. The Deputy Commissioner Doda took a sector wise performance review of the Banks in implementation of different Government initiatives with respect to employment generation etc.

Disbursement of pending cases of loan in Agro, Handloom, and other allied sectors were also reviewed by the Chairman DLRC and banks were asked to focus on lending in priority sectors including Education and Agro based sectors. 

DC asked banks to promote education loan schemes and proliferate the Vidya Lakshmi portal. 

Additionally, the DC urged bankers and other financial agencies to lay special focus on providing financial help to unemployed youth so that they can earn their livelihood with dignity.

Regarding the establishment of R-SETI, it was informed that suitable land has been identified and indent has been submitted to the concerned authority. R-SETI has been instructed to give skills and training to the unemployed people on Lavender, Horticulture, Agriculture, Agriculture, Processing of Agriculture Products etc.

Bankers were asked to earmark the share of CSR for the district and utilise it in improving the quality of education in government schools and in Swachhata sectors.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Doda Pran Singh, Chief Planning Officer, Suresh Kumar, Dy Director Employment Idrees Lone, LDM Parveen Kumar, CAHO, CAO, DSHO, Zonal Officer JK Bank, District Manager KVIB, representatives of Private Commercial Banks, and other officers/representatives of various departments.
