Inauguration of Border Sowing for Kharif 2023 along Indo Pak International Border

Kathua:- On similar lines to Border Area Sowing of Wheat during Rabi 2022-23 along Indo Pak International Border ,Sh. Abhinandan Sharma , DDC Member, Hiranagar  in presence of                   Sh. Sanjeev Rai Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer, Kathua, inaugurated Border Sowing of Mash Crop during Kharif 2023 in Karol Krishna Village, as , fresh initiative taken by Department of Agriculture production and Farmers Welfare Kathua, in Karol Krishna Village, across the fence along Indo Pak  International Border.

Sh. Abhinandan Sharma, D.D.C Member, Hiranagar, upon inauguration along with local farmers, thanked Department of Agriculture, Kathua, District Administration Kathua and Border Security Force for their relentless support and efforts to farming community from sowing to harvest of the crops sown along Indo Pak International Border. He again thanked APFWD Kathua for ensuring first time sowing of Mash crop in his constituency.

Sh. Sanjeev Rai Gupta, Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua congratulated farmers especially from Karol Krishna Village upon inauguration of Sowing of Mash Crop in ensuing Kharif 2023.  He said the department is facilitating farmers by supplying free of cost seed of Mash,                      PU-10 variety to farmers of the area. The variety is well suited to the area also.  He said, in previous year i.e. FY 2022-23, during Kharif 2022 , Mash was sown followed by Wheat Crop in  Rabi 2022-23 , generating a revenue of approximately  Rs.85.00 Lakh by the farming community.

Sh. Murari Digra, District Agriculture Officer (Ext) Kathua on behalf of Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Kathua, also demonstrated use of Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB) while treating seeds before sowing Crops to ensure better yield and low disease infestation.

2nd Incharge Sh. Dev Anand and Coy. Commander, B.S.F Sh. Rajinder Kumar  also assured full support and cooperation to farmers of the area simultaneously ensuring security to farmers during cropping operations. 

 Sh. Pritam Singh and Sh. Sehdev Singh, progressive farmers from the area also praised Chief Agriculture Officer, Sh. Sanjeev Rai Gupta  as a head of Department of Agriculture  in Kathua for his consistence support, motivation, relentless efforts and cooperation there by acting as bridge between Farmers and Government agencies.  

Other present on the occasion were Sh. Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Hiranagar, Sh. Jamshed Singh , Agriculture Extension Officer, Marheen ,                                 Sh. Narayan Jasrotia , Junior Agriculture Extension Officer, Sh. Sanjay Kumar, Agriculture Extension Assistant( Nodal Officers- Border Sowing) along with prominent farmers of the area.
