DC reviews disaster preparedness in Doda district

DODA, JULY 04: Deputy Commissioner Doda, Vishesh  Mahajan, who is also the Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority/ Committee, today convened a meeting of the line departments here in the Meeting hall of the DC office complex to review the disaster preparedness in the district.

The meeting was attended by ADC Doda, ADC Bhaderwah, All SDMs, ACD Doda, AD Fire and Emergency, AD FCS&CA, DySP DAR Doda, CMO Doda, Ex Ens of PWD, JSD, PDD, Mechanical Wing, representative of 10RR and other concerned officers and officials,

The DC, while underlining the importance of disaster management, called for collective and coordinated efforts of the stakeholder department to avert/minimise the damages due to any natural calamity. He directed the officers to devise a foolproof strategy with a workable plan for all possible disasters.

Assessing the availability of stocks and material required to deal with the disasters, the DC directed the concerned to purchase high quality tents, fire fighting equipment, and other essential equipment through the designated committee headed by ADDC Doda.

The DC asked the concerned to notify the Emergency Rehabilitation Centre and Helipads throughout the district to deal with any untoward incident in any part of the district. He also asked the GM-NHIDCL to identify and  notify the emergency Helipad on the NH244 under the jurisdiction of the district to evacuate the victims of accidents on the highway. He also asked the concerned to prepare a list of required modern equipment to submit the same for the grant of funds. He desired that all the stakeholders should be well versed with the disaster plan for its effective execution in the time of need.

CMO has been instructed to operationalise a toll free number for medical help in case of any eventuality.

DC has issued orders for the constitution of the District Disaster Coordination Committee headed by ADDC Doda as one point contact and real time response centre to minimise the loss and take every possible measure to help those in need during any kind of disaster in the district.

The SDRF unit Doda was directed to create mass awareness by holding mock drills in all educational institutions and at panchayat levels.

The Health Department was directed to conduct awareness and training programs in Panchayats and schools regarding first aid and to share with them toll free numbers along with the list of staff and their working locations and contact numbers.

The engineering departments were asked to prepare a viable action plan to restore the essential amenities during any extraordinary situation and asked them to keep their men and machinery always on readiness mode.
