Poonch Development Authority’s Cultural Fest Boosts Tourism in Sankh Doda-Nurpur Offbeat Destination

Over 12,000 Tourists and Pilgrims Attend Local Folk Performances and Sports Activities

POONCH, JULY 07: Zariat Sharief Doda witnessed a vibrant cultural fest organized by the Poonch Development Authority (Tourism) to boost tourism in the offbeat destination of Shankh- Doda-Nurpur.

During his visit, CEO Poonch Dev. authority along with all officers, Officials went inside the Dargah paid obeisance at Ziarat and offered his prayers.

The event saw the participation of over 12,000 tourists and pilgrims who were treated to an array of local folk performances and sports activities.

The cultural programme showcased a range of regional performances including Gogri, Pahari, Kashmiri, Qawali, and other folk dances. The local artists enthralled the audience with their captivating performances, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the region.

Apart from cultural performances, the event also featured various sports activities such as cricket, kabbadi, and arm wrestling. These activities added to the festive atmosphere and provided an opportunity for tourists and locals to engage in healthy competition.

The scenic beauty of the surrounding areas like Thanpir, Gali Pindi, Dana-Saloonia, Nurpur added to the charm of the event. The event was a resounding success and was well-received by the tourists and locals alike.

The CEO Poonch Development Authority (Tourism), Dr. Mohd. Tanveer Khan expressed his delight at the turnout and stated that the event had succeeded in promoting the offbeat destination of Sankh Doda-Nurpur as a viable tourist destination. He further added that such events would continue to be organized in the future to showcase the region’s rich cultural heritage and promote tourism.
