NYK organises Yuva Utsav-“Panch Pran” at GDC Kishtwar
KISHTWAR, July 14: Nehru Yuva Kendra Doda, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, organized a mega “Yuva Utsav” in Government Degree College, Kishtwar. The College NSS Unit collaborated in hosting the event which witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 200 young individuals from across the district in five different competitive events centered around the theme “Panch Pran”.
The event comprised five exciting competitions, namely the Young Artists Camp – Painting, Young Writers Contest – Poetry, Mobile Photography Contest, Declamation Contest, and Group Cultural Fest.
The DDC Chairperson Kishtwar Pooja Thakur graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and the College Principal Dr. Jyoti Parihar honored the event as the guest of honor.
The NSS Programme Officer Prof. Sonika Sen efficiently coordinated the event, while Avni Sen (I/C Cultural Cell) served as the anchor.
Commencing with the lighting of traditional lamp ceremony, the event proceeded with a warm welcome address by District Youth Officer, Khushal Gupta.
He extended a heartfelt welcome to the esteemed guests, jury members, faculty, staff, and students representing various educational institutions.
Gupta emphasized the significance of the theme “Panch Pran” and provided insights into the objectives behind organizing such events. He highlighted that Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, through its field offices, is conducting Yuva Utsav in all districts nationwide, and the winners of all components of Yuva Utsav will qualify for the State Level Yuva Utsav, followed by the National level Yuva Utsav.
Subsequently, captivating cultural performances were presented by various talented teams, and participants of the declamation contest expressed their thoughts on the topic “Panch Pran.”
Simultaneously, in the conference hall, students engaged in a creative writing session, penning their poems, while the Mobile Photography Contest contestants were granted a two-hour period to capture their best photographs.
At the conclusion of the event, Smt. Pooja Thakur praised the efforts of Nehru Yuva Kendra Doda for organizing such a grand event. She urged the youth to actively participate in such programs and encouraged the NYK to continue organizing similar events in the future.
Dr. Jyoti Parihar, Principal GDC Kishtwar, in her address, appealed to rural youth, in particular, to utilize such platforms effectively and represent themselves in nation-building activities. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed personalities, including Prof Umer Din Rather, Dr. Tariq Tamkeen, Prof Falak, Prof Swami Raj Chouhan, Prof Romana Akhter, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Mr. Gulab Saify (Cultural Officer, Kishtwar), and Mr. Sanjeev Sharma (Director, Sangam Welfare Academy).
The program concluded with a ceremony where prizes and certificates were awarded to the deserving winners.
