Dy Chairman inspects Leh markets to oversee sale of unhygienic Chicken items
LEH, July 19: In response to numerous representatives received from the general public regarding the sale of unhygienic chicken and other non-vegetarian consumables in the market, Dy Chairman LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk, who also holds the portfolio of Executive Councillor for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, conducted an inspection of food markets in Leh and Choglamsar areas. The purpose of the inspection was to assess the quality of chicken and fish items being sold in the market.
During the inspection, vendors were found violating regulations by selling banned consumables, including frozen and chilled chicken items. Dy Chairman Angchuk issued stern warning to all vendors and wholesale distributors, instructing them to immediately cease the sale of these unhygienic and banned consumables. He further urged the general public to refrain from purchasing these harmful frozen chicken and other non-vegetarian products.
Dy Chairman further desired to convene a follow-up meeting with the concerned administrative officers and stakeholders within the next few days to examine the issues and resolve them at the earliest possible.
Dy Chairman Angchuk was accompanied by officials from the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, police officials, and the President Merchant Association, Leh.
