Take rescue, rehabilitation operations on war footing in flood affected Bani: Dr Manyal

KATHUA, 7 July: Expressing grief over the loss of precious lives and damages to the houses in Bani area of Kathua district due to heavy rains and landslides, Jammu and Kashmir BJP General Secretary & former minister Dr. Devinder Manyal, has stressed upon the LG administration to press into service all the available machinery and manpower to undertake the rescue and rehabilitation operations on war footing.
On the occasion, Dr. Manyal also made a fervent appeal to the UT Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, to provide immediate relief and ex gratia to the affected families and free medical assistance to such people who may be in need of such help.
He said that the natural calamity has caused immense damages to the existing connectivity network also, which may create hurdles in reaching every affected area and as such alternate means for the purpose should also be utilised.
Besides, he also asked to identify black spots of land sliding areas and make permanent solutions to the problem. He asked the administration to take appropriate action and funds be provided for repairing and restoring the connectivity network which were damaged due to recent heavy rains.
While Dr. Manyal for proactive measures to provide relief to the Bani residents, he also raised a point to identify the weak points which may prevent future mishaps, as he pointed out that while the rains and the raised waters are a recurrent natural phenomenon but the damages could b prevented with a better foresighted constructive and preventive physical measures.
At the same time, the BJP leader also asked the party activists, social and religious organisations to cooperate with the administration in its operations for providing relief to the population affected by the recent floods in their respective areas.
