Social Welfare Department Poonch organises 2 -Day  Training Program on Drug Control  measures 

Youth club, village Committee members participate 

POONCH, JULY 20: The Social Welfare Department Poonch today organised a two-day capacity building training programme for Village Level Committees and Youth Clubs to intensify efforts under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Nasha Mukt Panchayat Abhiyaan.

 The programme was inaugurated by the Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary in the New Auditorium Hall of Shree Krishan Chander Government Degree College Poonch to spread Awareness among youth about the hazards of drugs.

The programme is being conducted by the Master Trainer from State Level Coordinating Agency and Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.

In his inaugural address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the importance of spreading awareness among youngsters and the public to avoid drugs and its ill effects. He urged the public to cooperate with the district administration and police to make the district drug-free. The Deputy Commissioner further stressed the role of the committees in curbing the menace of drugs.

The training program aims to make the Village Level Committees and Youth Clubs fully functional in their efforts to promote drug awareness and prevent drug abuse in the district.

The training programme was conducted by the Social Welfare Department Poonch is part of the Nasha Mukt Panchayat Abhiyaan launched on 26th June 2023, which is a nationwide campaign to make villages free from the menace of drugs. The programme aims to empower the Village Level Committees and Youth Clubs to effectively implement and monitor de-addiction programs and activities in their respective villages.

The training programme will cover various aspects related to drug abuse prevention, including the ill effects of drugs, the legal framework related to drug abuse prevention, and the role of Village Level Committees and Youth Clubs in promoting drug awareness. The participants are also being trained in counseling techniques and outreach strategies to reach out to the youth and other vulnerable sections of the society.

PMU State Coordinator Jammu and Kashmir, Nandni Rawat, ARTO/DIO Poonch, Basharat Mehmood, Assistant Prof. Sarfarz Mir, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer, Mohd. Azam Rather, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
