Bandipora police foils mining mafia’s sneaky move, seizes motorcycles, mining material at SK Bala

In a significant operation, Bandipora Police today seized two motorcycles that were being used to transport mining material at SK Bala, exposing a new trend adopted by the mining mafia to avoid using vehicles for illegal activities.

The action was taken under the Mineral (Other than Atomic and Hydro Carbons Energy Minerals) Concession Rules, 2016 (MMRD Act) through the District Mineral Office in Bandipora.

The police operation came as a result of increased vigilance on illegal mining activities in the region.

The mining mafia, in an apparent attempt to evade authorities, has been employing smaller and inconspicuous vehicles like motorcycles to transport mining material.
