Phaco Cataract surgeries by Tilganga doctors under Free Mega Eye Camp commences at SNM Hospital Leh
Leh, July 26: After the successful eye screening camps conducted at far-off places to diagnose cataract patients, under the Free Mega Eye Camp, the Phaco Cataract surgeries of the diagnosed patients led by renowned Dr Sanduk Ruit of Tilganga and his team assisted by SNM Hospital doctors commenced from today at SNM Hospital Leh.
The Free Mega Eye Camp is organised by LAHDC Leh and Phande Lekchin Welfare Trust, Leh in collaboration with Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology, Nepal to provide world-class eye care services to a wider population at their doorsteps.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Chairman/CEC Adv Tashi Gyalson expressed heartfelt gratitude to Guinness World Record holder, Dr Sanduk Ruit of Tilganga Hospital and his dedicated team, on behalf of LAHDC and the people of Ladakh, for providing their charitable and selfless services to the people of Ladakh.
He emphasised that the vision of Hill Council to conduct a mass outreach programme in health and eye care services for its people has become a reality with the handholding support provided by Tilganga Hospital and charitable services of Phande Lekchin Welfare Trust, Leh. Acknowledging the commendable charitable services of Tilganga Hospital towards people of Ladakh in the past, CEC Gyalson expressed hope to carry forward such legacy in the future too.
Additionally, CEC Gyalson appreciated the SNM team headed by Director Health Services, CMO Leh and MS, SNM Hospital Leh along with all the doctors, paramedical staff and volunteers, Councillors and village representatives for their active support in organising these mega eye camp.
6000 plus patients were screened during the successful Advanced Screening Camp conducted at near and far-flung areas of the district and around 250 patients were diagnosed with cataract and recommended surgery, which will be performed at SNM Hospital from July 26-28.
