DC Gbl reviews preparations for “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign in district

GANDERBAL, JULY 26: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir today convened a meeting of all concerned officers to review the preparations for conduct of “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in the district.

At the outset, Chief Planning Officer gave a detailed brief about the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign. He highlighted various components of the campaign including Deep Dive-Silaphalakam, Vasudha Vandhan (planting 75 saplings), Veeron Ka Vandan, Hoisting of National Flag and Singing of Rashtra Gaan and Panch Pran Pledge etc.

The DC informed that Independence Day shall be celebrated under national theme ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ across the district as per guidelines issued by the Government. 

It was informed that the local level programs shall also be held to pay homage to the ‘Veers’ who had sacrificed their lives for our future. As part of this initiative a ‘Shilaphalakam’ will be erected at each location to pay tributes to Veers.

He asked the CPO to prepare the list of all such ‘Veers’ who had sacrificed their lives preferentially freedom fighters and defence personnel of the district verified by police department.

The meeting was further informed that ‘MittiYatras’ from Panchayats would be taken to blocks where from it would be collected in an earthen urn for forward journey to New Delhi by a youth from each block for construction of the National Memorial at Kartavya Path.

Similarly under the activity of ‘VasudhaVandan’ each Gram Panchayat will replenish mother earth by planting at least 75 plant saplings preferentially around the already established AmritSarovars.

The RDD was directed to make all necessary arrangements for ‘MittiYatra” in all blocks. He also urged the concerned to ensure that plant saplings are planted in safe and secure locations.

Addressing the meeting, the DC enjoined upon all the officers to take part in all the events themselves besides encouraging others for the same and stressed upon all departments to ensure utmost coordination among themselves to make the campaign successful. 

The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Irfan Giri, Chief Education Officer, BDOs and officials from other departments.
