Day 3 of IIM Jammu’s orientation program hosts insightful sessions
JAMMU, July 26: The third day of the orientation of the new batches at IIM Jammu started with the students practicing Yoga and taking part in a concentration exercise, the event was organized to teach future business leaders to maximize inner happiness while coping with the hectic schedule of work to find the perfect balance between professional and personal life. The theme of the yoga session was ‘Maximize Happiness and Mindfulness’ and was conducted by Sahil Mehra, Yoga Guru. The yoga session was coordinated by Team Anandam.
The next session was conducted by Mukesh Singh, ADGP, Jammu Zone. He enlightened the students on the demographics of J&K since the 1980s and how cooperation and hard work played a role in the development of J&K into a peaceful state. The session was coordinated by Dr. Muqbil Burhan and Dr. Apurva, faculty, IIM Jammu.
Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, took center stage and addressed the students regarding their contribution to shaping the future of IIM Jammu. He encouraged the students to “Dream Big, Think Big, and Do Big.” He concluded his session with an interactive Q&A with the students.
Following the insightful session, Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean (Academics), highlighted the importance and role that Case Studies play in the current curriculum. He shed light on the intricacies of consulting roles and how learning through actual cases plays a big part in the development of an MBA student.
Following this, Sumit Dutta, Chief Business Officer, BlueMedix spoke about “The Role of Management and Leadership in Business Strategy.” He instilled the virtues of management and leadership among students and discussed the goals of business strategy, urging the students to learn contemporary norms in the business world. He also emphasized the skills necessary to overcome adversities in corporate life. The session was coordinated by Dr. Parvathy B, faculty, IIM Jammu. The session was coordinated by Dr. Gaana J and Dr. Anuja Akhouri, faculty, IIM Jammu.
The next session was conducted by Shibani Priyadarshini, Talent Management Head India, Novo Nordisk on the topic “Change Management and the Rising Role of Mental Health.” She articulated the importance of positive and negative strokes and their effects on human minds. The session rendered essential knowledge of behavioral psychology and its implications in real life. The session was coordinated by Dr. Ashish Kumar and Dr. Niti Shekhar, faculty, IIM Jammu.
Later, a plantation drive was conducted and all the speakers planted trees on the new campus.
The students eventually made their way outside to take part in the outbound activities organized by the institute. The objectives of these events were to create collaboration, foster teamwork, improve communication skills, and many other ideals. The day came to an end with students developing strong bonds with their batchmates and establishing respect and trust for one another.
