NDMA  organises virtual orientation cum coordination conference of UT level Mock Exercise on Earthquake Disaster

LEH, July 26:  In the run-up to the UT-level mock exercise (ME) on earthquake disaster to be held in Ladakh on August 2, 2023, an orientation & coordination conference was held at DC Conference Hall today.

The conference was organised by the District administration in collaboration with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

The conference was attended by Deputy Commissioner Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve; ADC; ADDC; CEO; DRC; AD, FCS&CA; Assistant Labour Commissioner; officials from IT Disaster; Health; PHE; RDD; Army; CISF; AAI; DMRRR; Himank; CRPF; SDRF; Traffic; Telecommunication and  Fire Services and other officials who joined the conference virtually.

The conference was virtually chaired by Major Gen (Retd.) Sudhir Behl, Senior. Consultant, ME&IRS, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) who presented a brief presentation about the preparatory measures regarding Table Top Exercise (TTEx) and other Mock Exercises (physical conduct), which will be held on 2 August.

He also urged the officials and stakeholders to get updated disaster management plans and be prepared for any kind of casualties in the future.

Further, he also informed about the preliminary actions, additional details on disaster management plans and reiterated on the statutory advice to the officials. In addition, he directed the nodal officers to submit a detailed and departmental-wise report to NDMA at the earliest.

Discussions were also held to ensure that necessary arrangements for conducting the mock exercise are put in place along with preparatory contingency plans for various scenarios and simulations expected in the district.
