Accusing the BJP government of having failed to address the problems of the people, JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla on Monday expressed shock over unbearable hike in food items including fruits, vegetables and other daily needed household items making people clueless how to manage family affairs amidst worst ever economic crisis in country. He demanded immediate control over food inflation which is breaking previous record on daily basis.
Addressing new entrants, Bhalla said that since BJP took over in 2014, the miseries of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have increased manifolds. He said that all the promises made to the people prior to the Assembly elections of 2014 remained unfulfilled. More than nine years have passed but they have failed to fulfill any of the promises, be it the problems faced by the unemployed youth, be it the problems faced by the farmers, be it the problems of Refugees and Kashmiri Pandits, this government has done nothing to address those problems,” Bhalla said.
While attacking Modi-led NDA government at the centre, he said that since the change of guard happened in New Delhi, the prices of essential commodities have increased manifold. He claimed that after mirror shown to BJP in recently concluded elections, it is day dreaming and befooling people and BJP can never come to power in J&K again.”The prices of essential commodities have increased and it has become difficult for not only the poor but also the middle class to afford these. The ever increasing inflation is taking a toll on the common masses of this country,” he said.
Bhalla said the hike on essentials items have pushed the people to the wall, despite the failure of the Centre Govt to contain the price hike, Prime Minister is making false claims about the development of the Country, but the people of the country have realized that the Nation has suffered immensely on every count during nine years rule of BJP Govt. He lashed out at BJP for giving lies and deceit to people rather than fulfilling the promise Narinder Modi has made to people, as a result, there is a large-scale resentment among the people in the entire Country.
He said Congress has launched several protest campaigns to invite the attention of the government towards the people’s worsening plight amid the rising prices of essential commodities.“We will take this campaign to every nook and corner of the Union Territory and force the government to provide relief to the people,” he said. He also criticized the Jammu and Kashmir administration for proposing property tax and said every now and then, a gift is given to the people in the shape of new taxes to make their lives miserable. They have already imposed taxes on the people for using roads, water and electricity,” he said.
Bhalla lambasted the Centre for “decimating” small and medium businesses resulting in millions of job and livelihood losses across various sectors of economy. He claimed that it is the Congress which introduced pro-people policies and Land Reform Acts and reservation for the weaker sections of the society. The BJP leaders have no concern for the poor. Instead, it protects the interests of corporates.
They will never protect the interests of the poor. They will speak about the poor only to gain votes. He said, people should come forward against anti-people policies of the BJP-led government. The BJP government is here to sell India and increase the burden of tax on public.
Taking a dig at LG Administration, Bhalla said, it is acting as the agent of the central government. He said, “The union government’s policies are putting common people into trouble. He also said that the Prime Minister is not ready to address public issues, instead, keeps speaking in ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme. He said we reside in a democratic country where every citizen has a right to protest against the anti-citizens policies of government and it is the duty of public servant to listen to everyone whoever approaches him and accept their grievances and forward the same to the concerned authority.
