One day awareness programme on “Viral infections, an overview on prevention of transmission” held at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, July 31: J&K Science Technology & Innovation Council, Department of Science & Technology, Udhampur, in collaboration with Rural Development Department today organised an awareness programme on “Viral infections, an overview with a focus on prevention of transmission” here at Block Development Office Udhampur.

About 200 participants including youth actively participated in the programme. The objective of the event was to impart awareness to participants regarding viral infections and ways to prevent the transmission of infections and promote understanding of science among them.

Chairman District Development Council Udhampur,  Lal Chand was the Chief Guest. Mool Raj, District Development Councilor Ramnagar-I also graced the occasion. The programme started with the welcome address by the Block Development Officer, Sahil Bhagotra. He welcomed the Chairman DDC Udhampur, Resource persons, Guests and all participants.

Shruti Khanna, District Co-ordinator, JKST, DST, Udhampur  apprised and inspired the participants about different achievements in Science and familiarized the gathering about the initiatives of the science & Technology department .

The guest lecturers were delivered by Dr Anu Saloch, District Health Officer, Udhampur and Dr. Priya Gupta, DH Udhampur.

While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest appreciated the Science & Technology Department and Rural Development Department for holding a highly impactful event. He suggested hosting more such events to make people aware about the Viral Infections and prevention. He advised the civil society to adopt ways to protect themselves as well as others from attracting as well as spreading infection.

The message of the awareness programme was “To encourage people to resolve to make good use of science and contribute to the progress of the country and to create an infection free society by adopting preventive measures.”
