DHEW-Mission Shakti Kishtwar organises awareness programme
KISHTWAR, August 01: The District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, under the aegis of Social Welfare Department organised an awareness programme in the Paramedical Nursing College Indira Nagar Kishtwar.
The DHEW members explained about Women Empowerment, fostering Gender equality, Financial literacy, Women Helpline (181) and various Women Welfare Schemes and others.
The participating women were asked to strive for their empowerment and autonomy by becoming a part of the political, social and economic system. “Improvement in the status of women also enhances their decision-making capacity in all spheres of life. There is an immense need to promote the fulfillment of women’s potential through education, skill development and employment, giving paramount importance to the elimination of poverty, illiteracy and ill health through laws, regulations and other appropriate measures. Eliminating violence against Women, Eliminating discriminatory practices by employers against women are important areas to be addressed” the speakers said.
They were further told about the importance of financial literacy among women to enable them to make wise decisions with their money, identify financial frauds, realize long-term goals—a child’s higher education, buying a house, or establishing a business.
